David Murphy, Chairman, CBT Career Pathways Consulting Services. David Murphy worked as a superintendent for 22 years, for the El Dorado Union High School District (11 years) and for the Davis Joint Unified School District (9 years). He was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger in 2009 to be the Superintendent of Education for the statewide California Division of Juvenile Justice schools. David has been the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) state chair for its Secondary Education Committee and later served for three years as the state chair of the ACSA School to Career Committee. For the Association of the Improvement of Secondary Education (AISE, also known as the California High School Districts Association), he served for several years on the AISE executive board and then as the AISE State Chair.
He is an active member of the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA). David’s work with CALSA has included creating and coordinating the CALSA statewide program: Advocate, Mentor, Advice and Support (AMAS) which supported the career growth of aspiring administrators. He was also the founding administrator to create and coordinate the CALSA Conclaves, a series of four major conferences bringing renowned researchers together with superintendents, and focused on what research indicates is effective for raising the achievement of English learners.
David graduated from Santa Clara University and Stanford University.
