Ed Buckley's thirty-four year community college career as an English teacher, faculty leader, and administrator culminated in a thirteen- year tenure as the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Santa Rosa Community College. Dr. Buckley spearheaded the college’s first strategic plan, organized a complete revision and reorganization of the college’s policy manual, and served for over a decade as one of the district’s two negotiators in bargaining with the faculty association. He was college liaison officer to the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (WASC), and has served on twelve accreditation visiting teams. From August of 2010 until March of 2011 he served as the interim Director of Planning, Research, and Institutional Effectiveness at College of Marin, assisting with the development of the institutional planning process and administrative program review, among other projects. As a Brain Trust consultant he has assisted three colleges in the development of strategic and/or educational master plans. He has been active at the state level as a board member and president of the California Community College Chief Instructional Officers organization, whose online newsletter he now edits.
As a result of these experiences, Dr. Buckley understands the key issues associated with student assessment, curriculum development, instructional practices, and the measurement of student outcomes in the community college context.
