Bird, Keith W.
Keith W. Bird, the Chancellor-Emeritus of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, is now a Collaborative Brain Trust consultant and a Senior Policy Fellow for Workforce and Postsecondary Education for the Corporation for a Skilled Workforce (CSW). Dr. Bird’s responsibilities with CSW include advancing national projects related to helping low-income, nontraditional and other adults access and successfully complete post secondary education. He also continues to build and expand partnerships with networks of community college leaders and advance public policy development related to the community college, workforce investment boards, adult learning, and certification fields. As the first Chancellor of the Kentucky system, Dr. Bird was responsible for system-wide direction of academic, student, and economic development/workforce initiatives. In addition, he directed the Office of Policy and Research Analysis, International Programs, Grants and Contracts, Crisis Management and Homeland Security and the State Fire/Rescue Training Program.
Prior to his work in Kentucky, he served as president of Central Carolina Technical College in South Carolina and positions as College president and Deputy Commissioner of the New Hampshire Community and Technical College System.
Bird has a Ph.D. from Duke University in History, an M.A. from Duke in History and a B.A. from Alma College in Michigan in History.
